Week 8 Contextual Background Development

As a part of the future vision of 2030 we have seen mass migration towards the eastern seaboard from inland Queensland and traditional rural land zones.  Government has identified issues with migration and rapid population increase, the key findings and strategies are as follows:
-          Need to protect what is left of Australian owned rural land and need to maintain farming operation,
-          Strain on government to implement basic services such as water, sewerage, electricity and shelter.
-          Fear of squatter settlements and slums rising up across rural, suburban, and urban areas.

Rural Migration

Suburban: incorporate what farming can be whilst densification strategies and low scale urbanization planning implemented
Urban: Urban areas are to bear the highest population increase. Leads to urbanization which accompanies social and economical development. Entity is a result of this.

Government aims to establish infill projects into established urbanised areas, such as the Brisbane CBD, in particular Adelaide, Queen and Elizabeth Streets. The target strategy on the CBD host societies is to enhance:

-          economic opportunity
-          possible agricultural production
-          Housing
